Foster Parents Payments Explained
At Flourish Fostering, we believe the main reason to foster is to help vulnerable children grow, heal and thrive in a safe and supportive home.
While fostering should never be about the money, we recognise that caring for children and young people is a significant responsibility and commitment. That’s why we treat our foster parents as skilled professionals, providing generous financial support that allows many people to foster as a full-time role.
Our payments are designed to ensure that foster parents can focus on what matters most: providing stability, care and guidance to the children in their home.
How Foster Parent Payments Work
Foster parents receive two types of financial support:
Professional Fee
This recognises the time, dedication and expertise required to provide high-quality care for children and young people.
Maintenance Allowance
This supports the day-to-day costs of caring for a child, including food, clothing, household bills and other essentials.
Together, these payments help ensure that foster parents can fully commit to providing a nurturing and stable home.
A Rewarding Professional Role
At Flourish, we train our foster parents to become experts in therapeutic fostering. Because of this additional training and the specialist care provided, we offer competitive weekly payments.
Our payment structure is tiered, meaning it can vary depending on:
The type of fostering you provide
The age and needs of the child
Your experience and training as a foster parent
As you develop your skills and continue your training with us, your payments can increase, reflecting your growing expertise and commitment.
Additional Allowances and Support
Alongside weekly payments, we provide a range of additional allowances throughout the year to help foster parents give children the best possible experiences.
These may include contributions towards:
We also provide 21 days of paid respite each year, allowing foster parents to take a well-earned break while ensuring children continue to receive consistent care.
